DID YOU KNOW: PASTA COOKING

PASTA COOKING:

Allow 1.5 litres of water and 1 tsp salt for each 100 gm of dried pasta. Add pasta to boiling water, never before. Cook as per packing until just done (al dente) and drain. Add butter or oil to drained pasta and toss to mix.

Never refresh pasta in cold water. This makes the pasta tasteless by washing away the starch, which is necessary for absorbing the flavor of any sauces, which the pasta is served with.

Pasta is not really fattening. A generous 75 gm helping of cooked pasta with a tomato and cheese sauce has about 250 calories.
